Yesterday, the Queensland Government announced that the influenza vaccine would be free for all Queenslanders between 24th May and 30th June 2022.
This is in response to a higher than usual outbreak of Influenza A in the community, and Queensland Health have confirmed they will subsidise the cost of the vaccine.
- This vaccine is Available for Queensland residents only.
- National Immunisation Program continues as usual for those already eligible for a funded vaccine.
- children aged 6 months to 5 years
– adults aged 65 and over
– pregnant women
– Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
– those with certain medical risk factors.
- children aged 6 months to 5 years
- This initiative is not backdated before 24th May.
- Non-Medicare card holders are eligible for a funded vaccine, but will still need to pay for the GP/RN consultation.
